Outdoor Tennis Courts Near Green Lake

October 22, 2014 6:29am

As the temperatures start to cool, Seattle Parks Department is planning on shutting off the lights for many of the outdoor tennis courts. Tennis courts are not utilized as much in the winter and Seattle Parks say turning off the lights helps with energy savings.

Luckily nearby Lower Woodland Park’s 10 courts (1000 N 50th St.) will stay illuminated throughout the winter for the hardy outdoor tennis players. If winter tennis is not your idea of a good time, there are several indoor parks such as the Amy Yee Tennis Center’s indoor courts or  Sandpoint Tennis Center at Magnuson Park.

And, if you are looking for a different kind of sport to do in the winter months, don’t forget about Green Lake Table Tennis that plays several times on the weekends year round and meets in the Green Lake Community Center.
