Green Lake Open Swim this Sunday
If you’ve ever dreamed of swimming from one side of Green Lake to the other, then Sunday is your day. The annual Green Lake Open Swim has swimmers doing a 1/2 mile and 1 mile race in the open waters of Green Lake. It’s the only day of the year you can swim more than 50 feet from the shore legally.
Coordinators of the event expect roughly 200 swimmers. Registration is still open and will be the morning of the race.
During the race only the north end of the lake will be closed to boat traffic.
If you’d like to watch the event, the 1/2 mile race begins at 9 a.m. from West Green Lake Beach and the mile swim begins and ends at East Green Lake beach after the 1/2 mile is finished at approximately at 9:30 a.m.
