We are just days away from the official start of swimming season in Green Lake.  But before June 21 rolls around, there’s a few things you should know.

In Green Lake, swimmers are only allowed to swim in designated areas and within 50 feet of the shore (unless the swimmer is accompanied by a boat which is within 25 feet of the swimmer).

The two swimming beaches at Green Lake are located at:

East Green Lake Beach
Address: 7201 East Green Lake Dr N
June 22 – August 25, 2013
Weekdays: Noon – 7 pm; Weekends: 11am – 7pm

West Green Lake Beach
Address: 7312 West Green Lake Dr N
June 22 – September 2, 2013
Weekdays: Noon – 7 pm; Weekends: 11am – 7pm

Both beaches have lifeguards during open hours.

Rain or shine, Evans Pool is located at 7201 E Green Lake Drive N. and is a great option year round.

And, for pre-swimmers don’t forget about the wading pool at N 73rd St. & W Green Lake Dr. N. open 11 am – 8 pm.

Need a life jacket before heading out to the water this summer? Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Children’s Hospital have partnered with Mustang Survival and the Coast Guard Auxiliary to offer low-cost life jacket sales at Evans Pool several times throughout the summer 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on the following days:

· June 21
· July 19
· August 16

The cost for life jackets sizes infant to youth large is $20, and for teens to adult size XXXL, is $30. The life jackets are comfortable, high-quality vests in several colors.
