Volunteer Tutors Wanted

Looking for a way to help the community through volunteering? Invest in Youth is a Seattle-based non-profit that provides free tutoring to local schools including Green Lake’s Daniel Bagley Elementary. The program is looking for volunteers to commit to tutoring third through fifth graders. Tutors either agree to tutor once a week for an entire year or are substitutes throughout the year.
Year-long volunteers are matched with the same student and meet to work on math, reading or any other needs. Activities and materials are provided as well as training and support from the program. Tutoring is free and helps children who’s families might not be able to afford a paid tutor (85% of students enrolled in Invest in Youth are eligible for free or reduced lunches).
Tutoring begins the first week of October 2014 and runs through May 2015. Tutoring takes place wednesdays at Daniel Bagley Elementary from 3:50 to 4:50 p.m.
