Registration is now open for a kid’s-only fishing event on May 2nd. Thanks to a sizable neighborhood matching fund grant, provided to LoveGreenlake.com, this program will be free for 500 kids.

The program works like this:

Starting at 8:30 a.m. May 2nd kids will get a chance to fish a netted part of the swimming area near the Bathhouse Theatre. A few thousand fish will be stocked into a netted area allowing kids a better chance at catching a fish. Experienced anglers will be on hand to help provide some guidance for kids as they try their luck at getting up to two fish to bring home. Volunteers will also be on hand to help with any tangled fishing lines as well as help kiddos clean their catch.

And not to worry if your kiddos don’t have a fishing pole. Kids receive a free fishing pole to use at the event (and take home).

To sign up for the event you have to have a SPARC account with Seattle Parks. (Select hobbies and then fishing) (Please be advised that it takes 2 days to set up your account in their system, so sign up their first!)

Registration closes April 24th and coordinators tell us that spaces are starting to fill.

Volunteers are also needed. Go here to sign up to help.
