Car Prowls at Green Lake Park

It’s the time of year when the park becomes crowded. But with that comes the threat of theft.
We all know the rules. Don’t leave your valuables out and you are less likely to fall victim of a smash and grab. This weekend however, we got news of a brazen car prowl that occurred during the day, just a few yards away from the soccer fields with dozens of people around.

The event occurred on Saturday 4/18 in the parking lot by the Green Lake soccer fields between 2:45 – 3:15 p.m. A red 2004 Chevy Tahoe (with Idaho plates) was parked at the intersection of Green Lake Way and 53rd street.
Just 20 yards away from the soccer field robbers busted a passenger side door and stole a purse (which according to the owner, was concealed from sight) and a bag full of clothes. Unfortunately the robbers got off with quite a bit of money.

If you saw something, contact the police.

Be careful Greenlakers, our beautiful park is popular… unfortunately with thieves too.
