Being a New Dad: Lecture at Naked City June 17

Just days before Father’s Day, PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) is hosting a talk on the real scoop on being a new dad. The evening includes a panel of local dads who will share their firsthand experience about the trials and tribulations of being a new Dad.
Topics include:

  • How to survive on no sleep (and tips for getting a little)
  • Building your parenting community/Finding your tribe
  • Keeping your marriage strong after baby comes
  • Mistakes you will make the first year
  • Managing work and family
  • Unique ways dads interact and form bonds with their babies

Several local dads will share their experiences that night including:

Zach Brittle is a Seattle-based Certified Gottman Therapist with a practice focusing on couples. Dad of 2, Zach speaks regularly at PEPS groups.

Jack Forman is the bassist front man for Seattle “Kindie” band Recess Monkey, known for family-centric focus and high energy shows. Jack taught pre-school and elementary grades for 13 years and is a father of 2.

Jeff Lee, MD is a writer and family physician in Seattle. His column “The Dad Next Door” appears in Seattle’s Child Magazine and explores the world of parenting from a father’s perspective.

Mike Schloss is currently a stay at home dad in Seattle. After he spent some time over-programming himself and his toddler daughter, he now focuses on strengthening new friendships among other parents in the Seattle community.

Zach Silk is a political strategist and entrepreneur. He runs Civic Ventures, a Seattle-based public policy incubator. Zach, his wife Edie and their 2 kids are all proud “PEPSicles.”

Doors open at 6:15 pm. Program from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm. $15 or pay what you can.
