Next Tuesday, June 30th at 11 am, author and illustrator Claudia McGehee will present a special story time at Mockingbird Books to share her new picture book, My Wilderness: An Alaskan Adventure. The book tells the true story of nine-year-old Rocky, the son of painter Rockwell Kent. In 1918 the father and son trekked to remote Fox Island, Alaska to spend the winter in the wilderness. McGehee’s scratchboard illustrations depict the fun Rocky has in this majestic land. McGehee will share a reading, show-and-tell, and craft with attendees.
