Youth Sailing Camps in Green Lake
Ever want to be a kid again? You may have reading that this summer Seattle Parks and Recreation and Green Lake Small Craft Center are offering weeklong sailing camps for kids. The youth camps teach the basics of sailing including rigging, safety and boat handling. Youth sailors will learn using Topper boats (ie. the cute boats you’ve likely seen setting sail along Green Lake on the south side of the Lake).
After completing the introductory course, or with adequate proficiency, youth can sign up for the advanced camp. Advanced sailors will be introduced to small boat skills, sail trim, basic racing techniques and racing rules.
The camps will be held from noon-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, and sessions will be held from now until Aug. 14.
For more information on the camps, call the Green Lake Small Craft Center at 206-684-4074 or visit http://www.seattle.gov/parks/boats/grnlake.htm.
Camp registration can be completed over the phone, in person at the Green Lake Small Craft Center or online at https://class.seattle.gov/parks/Start/start.asp.
The center is located at 5900 W Green Lake Way N.
