Changes Slated For Green Lake Park Facilities in 2016
Recently the City Council approved the Capitol Improvement Program which allocates funding for city projects until 2021.
As we posted recently, the Green Lake alum treatment is included in that budget and slated for next year, but there’s several other projects that are in the docket for Green Lake, including:
- Planning and design for a piling replacement project at Green Lake’s swimming beaches. Depending on permitting that project could take place in 2016.
- Green Lake Community Center and the Evans Pool are one of eight area community centers that are being studied to determine priorities for potential renovations in what the city calls “the first funding cycle of the 2016-2021 Seattle Parks District budget.” While that timeline may sound like a window for the cable guy to arrive to your house – somewhere between 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. – it’s great news for the community centers in this area that are so well utilized and frankly, in need of a bit of repair! There will be public reviews of the draft Community Center Strategy slated for winter 2016.
As always, we will keep you posted on public comment meetings and next steps for either of these projects.
