Seattle Animal Shelter Finding Pets a New “Home for the Holidays”

December 16, 2015 6:39am

‘Klaus’ is available for adoption at the Seattle Animal Shelter and he comes with festive tidings!

I have a special spot in my heart for adopted/shelter animals. We rescued our cat from 20′ weather years ago. Poor little guy was living on the streets and needed a warm home. If you are looking to add to your family, Seattle Animal Shelter is offering a “Home for the Holidays” adoption special, for only $15, plus applicable two-year license fees. (Normally adoption prices can be as high at $145.) The adoption includes a certificate for a free health exam with a local veterinarian, initial vaccinations, spay or neuter (Bob Barker would be proud!), microchip, deworming and more. For Seattle residents, a two-year pet license must be purchased with each adoption, $27 for cats and $37 for dogs. Critter adoptions do not require licensing.

The shelter is also hosting an open house from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. where you can enjoy holiday snacks and cider, learn more about the shelter and its programs, and take advantage of the December adoption special.

Fine print: Both in-shelter and foster animals at least 6 months old qualify for the special pricing, although some high-interest animals are excluded. Staff are hoping this promotion will encourage potential pet owners to adopt.

The special runs through the end of December.

The Seattle Animal Shelter, located at 2061 15th Ave. W., is open Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. for adoptions and licensing. For more information, call 206-386-7387 (PETS), or view animals available for adoption online at www.seattleanimalshelter.org. Adoptable pets are also featured on “Pet of the Week” on the Seattle Channel at http://www.seattlechannel.org/CityStream/Pets.
