Storybook Tour Teaches Kids When to Dial 9-1-1
Every day, 5,000 calls are made locally to 9-1-1. Many residents, especially kids, don’t know how and when to call.
A storybook tour that is aimed to help preschoolers teaching them how, when and where to dial 9-1-1 is coming to Green Lake. Emery the Emergency Penguin storybook tour is a free tour that will be available in 13 libraries across King County through April.
The event is kicking off at Woodland Park Zoo on March 31 with a special speaker, Austin Holdt, a a nine-year-old King County resident dialed 9-1-1 when his grandmother fell unconscious in 2015. Austin was able to keep calm and answer the call-taker’s questions and help arrived to his door within minutes.
