Free Wifi is Coming to Green Lake Community Center

April 13, 2016 6:02am

Thanks to a Google grant announced last week, free wifi is coming to Green Lake Community Center. The $344,000 grant allows all of Seattle’s community centers and several affordable housing projects across the city to get connected with wifi.

According to a press release on the project, “at least 15 percent of Seattle residents have no Internet service at home. Among Seattle’s lowest income residents and immigrant communities the numbers are even higher, according to the City of Seattle’s Technology Access & Adoption study.”

The grant is part of Mayor Murray’s Digital Equity Initiative, which aims to make Seattle a city where “technology’s opportunities equitably empower all residents and communities.”

Timing on when the wifi will be available is TBD.
