There has certainly been a lot of changes to bus routes in Seattle and right here in Green Lake. I’ve heard from many Greenlakers who are concerned about longer travel and multiple bus routes with the recent change in bus routes. We were just informed by Metro that more changes are coming, but we are happy to report that the changes may be refreshing.
While several routes are getting additional buses throughout the city, one will directly affect Green Lake:

Route 62, will be adding two morning trips. According to Metro, they “received a large amount of feedback from weekday riders on the new Route 62, which travels in Northeast Seattle and replaces part of the deleted Route 16, traveling between Green Lake and Downtown Seattle via Wallingford, Fremont and South Lake Union. Though scheduled every 10 minutes until about 8 a.m. and every 15 minutes thereafter, crowding is apparent – especially on the southern half of the route. To address this, Metro will add two weekday morning peak trips serving the part of the route west of I-5 during the 7-8 a.m. window to help ease crowding.”

Metro claims this is the first of many changes and that they are monitoring performance in the field with other routes and are receiving reports from riders from various routes.
