One Greenlaker is trying to make the busy Aurora corridor well, I guess you could say a bit more Green Lake-esque. Specifically the area between Winona Avenue and 85th by planting trees, vegetation and art along the median and sidewalks.

Greenlaker Steve Lamb recently started a petition via change.org with the hope of drumming up support for a proposal he is submitting through the Neighborhood Street Fund to help fund the Aurora median improvements.

According to Steve’s petition “Aurora Avenue N between Winona Ave N and N 85th is increasingly a hub of pedestrian activity, connecting Phinney, Greenwood and Greenlake neighborhoods to the most visited park in Washington. In addition, approximately 33,500 cars pass through Aurora Ave N and Winona Ave N on a daily basis, making it one of Seattle’s busiest intersections. Despite the area’s draw, a decrease in crime activity historically associated with this area, and the recent influx of prominent new businesses, this section of Aurora lacks the features we expect from a thriving urban neighborhood thoroughfare.”
