Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, but don’t let that stop you from celebrating with your sweetie, enjoying company with friends, or treating yourself to one of the many options in the Green Lake area. Ideas for Valentine’s Day and the prior weekend are included below.
“The Liar” at the Seattle Public Theater
This classic 17th century romantic comedy about the pathological liar Dorante gets an update for today’s audience.

Valentine’s Day Enrichment at the Woodland Park Zoo
Even the animals enjoy special treats for Valentine’s Day! Zookeepers will give them heart-shaped ice pops (made of fruit juice, honey, and strawberries), herbal bouquets, heart-shaped steaks, and more as part of the program to help enrich the lives of the zoo’s animals and promote natural animal behavior.
February 11, 2017, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Free with zoo admission or membership.
Woodland Park Zoo (West Entrance – 5500 Phinney Ave. N; or South Entrance – 750 N 50th St.)

The race is followed by a costume contest, awards ceremony, and celebration including exhibitor booths (free food, drink and more), and an onsite beer, wine and mimosa garden.

Open Mic Night at Woodland Park Presbyterian Church
A recurring monthly event (second Friday of every month), this child-friendly open mic night welcomes a variety of performers and styles (in the past they’ve included spoken word, folks songs, experimental piano pieces, and more). To protect the acoustic experience, the event does not include food or drink so plan to check out one of the many restaurants, bars, or cafes before or after.
Friday, February 10, 2017. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for performer sign-in; performances begin at 7 p.m.
Address: Woodland Park Presbyterian Church (225 N. 70th St.)
